Teaching

Currently in her 24th year of teaching, Jennifer serves as an Associate Professor of Theatre and Multimedia at CUNY’s Lehman College.

Her accreditations include an MFA in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama Program at The New School University and a BS in Speech Communications and Theater at The State University College of Oneonta. 

 

As a second generation Lee Strasberg acting teacher, she consistently instills essential tools and techniques to thousands of actors. Alongside her professorships, Jennifer has taught workshops, classes and seminars in both the private and public sector all over the Tri-State area and consistently provides a transformational learning environment for all students.

Her unique approach and perspective as a practitioner to both foundational acting technique and specific on-camera training have afforded her the opportunity to distill with confidence and grace the necessary components to succeed as a working actor on stage and screen.

 

Jennifer’s research and scholarly work includes the creation and trademark of Jump then Justify®, an intensive workshop that engages actors in an in-depth exploration of character development by way of Freud’s Primary and Secondary Process Thinking. This approach along with other techniques and tools are explained and shared in her first book on screen acting due out January 2022.

Jennifer founded Jennifer McCabe Studios in 2009 where she offers a variety of classes, workshops and seminars for performing artists. She has two active locations: NYC and New York’s Hudson Valley. Both provide a transformational learning environment for each student.

 

She has also worked extensively as a Drama Teaching Artist serving students in the public and private school systems in New York and New Jersey. Affiliated organizations include: Enact, Inc., Guggenheim Museum, Wingspan Arts, The Leadership Program, Hoboken Charter School, Bronx Arts Ensemble. Jennifer is also a skilled improviser and serves as a facilitator and trainer for corporate education organizations and Fortune 500 companies including: Performance of a Lifetime, Impact International and Performance Plus.
