Welcome to Step One of your training.  This is a 3-month (12 week) semester long class that meets every week for 3 hours. The first 6 weeks will be focusing on learning the basic acting techniques and applying them to monologues and scenes. The second 6 weeks will include applying these techniques to the screen and incorporating Jen's Top Ten Screen Acting Tools. This weekly 3-hour acting class includes Jen's unique approach to the Stanislavski Method by way of the essential tools of Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner and Uta Hagen. Her work with actors is transformational as they will deepen their craft by being guided through powerful exercises and encouraged to open up their instruments in new and exciting ways. All levels welcome. Step Three:
Choose any or all at any time

Acting Retreats in Nature:

This four-session workshop focuses on character development for the actor through teaching, lectures, interviews, and acting workshops entitled Jump Then Justify ®. Jennifer will facilitate actors’ exploration of Freud’s theory of Primary Process and Secondary Process Thinking as it relates to the actor’s creation of a character for theater, film or TV. This technique will reveal an actor’s true instincts and in-depth imagination.

The process learned can be applied to auditions, rehearsals and performance.

This acting retreat is spent both in Jen's Hudson Valley Studio and also in nature. Actors will spend the days of instruction being in the woods. They will deepen their craft by being guided through transformational exercises and encouraged to open up their instruments all while surrounded by nature. This will include: Personal vlogging in nature, on-camera work, Relaxation and Sense Memory, exploring text, guided hikes and mediations, 'Song and Dance' and other adventures to strengthen and enhance your relationship to yourself and your acting.

The early evenings will include a sit by the fire, sharing stories and listening to engaging lectures while reflecting on the work done that day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included and consist of fresh, delicious options for all dietary lifestyles.

This retreat is the foundation for all of your acting training.
